Turquoise Caribbean water

Xcaret, Xplor and Xel-Há are the three best-known parks in the Riviera Maya, and they are very different days out. One is about culture and variety, one about adrenaline and one about floating, snorkeling and doing very little. This guide helps you pick the right one for your group.

Prices, opening days and what is included change often, so confirm everything on each park’s official website before booking.

Choose Xcaret if…

  • You want one park with a bit of everything: nature, culture, swimming and a show.
  • You are traveling with children of different ages.
  • You don’t mind a long day, and you enjoy an evening performance.

Xcaret is the broadest of the three. Entry packages vary, and some include meals, lockers and snorkeling gear, so compare what is included before you buy.

Choose Xplor if…

  • Your group wants physical adventure: ziplines, vehicle circuits and swimming through caves.
  • You are traveling with teenagers or active friends.
  • You like the idea of a night version of the park, called Xplor Fuego.

Xplor is a great fit if you are comfortable in the water and don’t mind getting wet in cool cave streams. It is less suited to very young children or anyone who dislikes heights.

Choose Xel-Há if…

  • You want a slow, water-based day with no schedule.
  • Snorkeling is the main attraction for you.
  • You like the idea of an all-inclusive format for food and drinks.

Xel-Há is near Tulum, so it is the farthest of the three from Playa del Secreto. Leave early and combine it with a visit to the Tulum ruins only if you are happy with a very full day.

How far is each park from Casa Chanty?

  • Xcaret and Xplor: about 25 to 40 minutes by car.
  • Xel-Há: about an hour or a little more.

Times are approximate and depend on traffic. Our taxi and transfer guide explains your options for getting around without a rental car.

Can I visit more than one park?

Yes, but give yourself breathing room. Popular pairings are one adventure park plus one relaxed day, with a free day on the beach in between. Combination tickets may exist, so check the official sites.

So which one should you pick?

  • Only one park, and you want variety: Xcaret.
  • Adventure above all: Xplor.
  • Relaxation and snorkeling: Xel-Há.
