Dining at Casa Chanty: What to Expect

Your kitchen, your schedule

Every suite at Casa Chanty comes with a full kitchen — refrigerator, stove, cookware, and enough counter space to prepare proper meals. Most guests do a grocery run on arrival day (Andrea can arrange a pre-stocked fridge before you check in) and handle breakfast and lunch on their own schedule. The freedom to eat when you want, where you want — on your terrace, by the pool, at the dining table — is one of the quiet pleasures of villa life.

Private chef — on request only

For dinner, or for special occasions, Casa Chanty offers a private chef service. The chef comes from Playa del Carmen and is available on request with at least 24 hours advance notice. This is not an on-site or resident service — guests should not expect a chef to be present at the property unless specifically booked.

The menu is planned with you in advance, typically featuring Yucatán and Mediterranean flavours built around the freshest local ingredients: catch of the day, slow-cooked pork, seasonal produce from the morning market. Dietary restrictions — gluten-free, vegan, kosher — can be accommodated. A dinner for two runs about $80 USD per person, including wine pairings. Let Andrea know at least a day ahead and she will handle the arrangements.

Eating out — nearby towns, not on the beach

Playa del Secreto is a quiet residential zone. There are no restaurants directly on the beach or within walking distance of the villas. For dining out, guests head to the nearby localities of Puerto Morelos (six minutes north) or Playa del Carmen (fifteen minutes south).

In Puerto Morelos, the town square has several small restaurants worth knowing: La Choza is the local institution — open-air, plastic chairs, handwritten menu, and some of the best pescado a la veracruzana you will eat for under $15 USD. For something fancier, My Italian Kitchen offers handmade pasta and a candlelit courtyard.

Playa del Carmen has dozens of options ranging from casual taquerías to upscale dining along Quinta Avenida — Andrea can point you toward the current best picks.
